Experiencing God...

Please forgive my brief hiatus from being so bloggy, but now I'm back. Today I want to echo the words of the Apostle Paul in Philippians 3:10-11: "I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead". Let's focus on the first thing he says here, that he wants to know Christ. I don't know about you, but right now I'm at a point where I really just want to know Christ in a deep and intimate way. Sometimes we get so trapped by the bindings of organized religion that we forget what the whole point is supposed to be. Maybe you're not sure what I'm talking about, but it is very possible to be involved in so many things at our church, that we leave out time for God. We're simply busy with spiritual things. The danger is making our religion or church our god, and forgetting that God is our God. Now I'm not against the local church at all, I must make this clear! But I want you to examine how well you are experiencing God as a result of your involvement with your church? Has it become a mere routine for you? or is church where you encounter the living God? Has "church" simply become a place that you go to on Sundays or Wednesdays, or is "church" a living organism that you are a part of? I think that the global body of Christ-followers makes up the church, we ARE the church. There is no longer a need for a priest or temple, each of us has the living God right inside of us; we have direct access to Him and we embody Him in all we do. You and I, we are the church on Sunday thru Saturday, 24/7/365. Do you need to take a break from all of the spiritual things and get back in tune with God? He seeks for you to draw near to Him. Join me in getting rid of any and everything that blocks me from experiencing God. Instead of doing church, let's begin to be the church. And instead of learning of God, let's truly get to know Him. Would you join me in this journey?

I want to close with a quick question, how well do you know God right now? How well are you currently experiencing God and what/when do you experience Him at the highest level? Please click to leave a comment and share your experience.
